A tale of three markets

In a country with a 90% foreign population and cities built largely for tourism and foreigners, it is sometimes hard finding

Trying to find genuine slices of local culture and daily life in the UAE is hard. With a 90% foreign population and cities built to largely foreigners and tourists, it is challenging to go beyond the performative and commodified version of Bedouin culture. It feels very much like a culture closed off to outsiders. In an effort to get a better sense of something a little bit more genuine, I visited three local souks (markets) within the Al Mina area.
